Check a PDF against a 5 MB limit

Large PDFs are commonly rejected by application portals. Check the exact limit from the form and verify the PDF before attempting an upload.

Requirement to check

PDF only · maximum 5 MB

Use the exact limit and format from the destination upload form. This guide does not replace or invent portal-specific rules.

Why upload forms set this rule

Scanned documents and image-heavy PDFs can exceed portal limits. A smaller file may require reducing image resolution or changing its internal structure, which can affect readability or content.

How the file is processed

The PDF layer first inspects the document and only attempts a conservative rebuild when the operation is technically safe. It does not promise arbitrary compression or make aggressive quality changes to hit a requested number.

Validation before download

The rebuilt file is inspected and validated from its actual bytes. If it remains above 5 MB, is encrypted, or cannot be safely processed, the tool explains that the requirement could not be satisfied automatically.

Privacy

Files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers. The original PDF is left untouched. Temporary processing data is held in browser memory.

Frequently asked questions

Can this guarantee any PDF will be under 5 MB?

No. Safe rebuilding may not reduce a PDF enough. The tool reports the resulting size and an honest failure if the limit is still exceeded.

Will my PDF pages be downsampled?

The current PDF layer avoids promising lossy page-image optimization. If reaching the target would require material quality loss or structural changes, it reports that it cannot safely complete the request.

Can I check a different upload limit?

Yes. Replace 5 MB with the exact maximum shown by your destination form in the requirement field.
